A big retail chain or company can “write off” any destruction or looting in a “blink of an eye” whereas small businesses can’t. This is why many small businesses went out of business. When a small business needs to collect insurance, the insurance company will invent many excuses in delaying or denying payments and blame government or force majeure or the business owner leaving it to a long litigation that small business can’t afford.
Insurance companies profiteer by delaying or denying payment to small businesses whenever the present value of losing a business is lower when compared with paying for the damages. Most small businesses don’t have other subsidiaries. Big companies have more leverage by running several insured branches and other activities that need insurance. They also can afford armies of lawyers and accountants that won’t let the insurance company make it worthwhile not covering the damage on time.
During World Word II and ever since 1933 businesses were destroyed by political activists and government while owners were “taken” by the 3rd Reich activists. In those years and until today insurance companies profiteered by conveniently not paying to small businesses heirs. Those companies were doing side deals on existing policies in the secondary insurance policy market and other related financial businesses.
Any BLM/Antifa endorsement or donation by big business or retail chain might be an antitrust or RICO violation. Once small businesses number is diminished, big business like Walmart, Target or Amazon can better control the supply chain and prices while acting as monopolies.
Big companies benefit from governors and mayors like Newsom and Cuomo who suffocate small businesses while allowing Antifa or BLM lootings and vandalism. Many mom-and-pop shops can’t stay afloat while struggling with destruction, arson, smear graffiti, gang protection, cancel culture or when Antifa, liberals or BLM block, kill or bully patrons of small businesses.
