France conducts missile strikes on ISIS targets in Syria
The operation was announced by Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu. The French airstrikes followed a similar operation in Syria by the United States, during which, according to Washington, several militants linked to ISIS were killed. As noted by Reuters, Syria’s political future remains uncertain following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Assad was overthrown on December 8 by rebel forces led by the group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
